Grant Application

The Seattle Police Foundation only accepts grant applications from Seattle Police Department employees.

The Seattle Police Foundation (SPF) is the major source of private financial support for the Seattle Police Department (SPD). The Foundation is dedicated to helping the SPD prevent crime, save lives and make our community a better and safer place to live, work and visit by assisting the SPD with resources not provided in the city budget.

To date, the Seattle Police Foundation has awarded more than $4 million in grants and initiatives to the SPD.

The Seattle Police Foundation is a registered 501©(3).  All donations benefit the Foundation and assist us in our mission to help the SPD serve our communities better.  All contributions are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law.

Foundation Guidelines
The Seattle Police Foundation’s primary area of interest is to assist Seattle police officers and civilian employees by providing funds for community partnerships, employee development, and law enforcement enhancements. Officer safety is the Foundation’s top priority. Each year the Foundation’s Board of Directors consults with SPD leadership to determine priorities for funding.

Application Procedure
Grant applications are submitted and checked by a committee comprised of SPD personnel and recommendations are forwarded to Command Staff to ensure they are aligned with Departmental funding priorities. Command Staff upon review will forward the recommendations to the SPF Grants Committee who will review recommendations to ensure they align with Foundation guidelines and then forward the recommendations to the Board of Directors for final approval.

*Please note if your grant application is approved, you will have to submit an evaluation that explicitly measures the grant outcomes, and share a success story with a photo to be used for Foundation purposes.
