Crime Prevention
Crime Prevention
At the Seattle Police Foundation, our desire to improve public safety in Seattle underpins everything we do.
As the Seattle Police Department grapples with an unprecedented staffing crisis, we need to double down on our commitment to the men and women of SPD and the Seattle community by finding ways to stop crime before it happens. Crime prevention is at top of mind for so many of us, because our quality of life as Seattle residents, workers, and visitors depends on it. The good news is that the possibilities within the realm of crime prevention are endless, and we have SPD’s expert team of Crime Prevention Coordinators ready and available for collaboration.
It all comes down to resources.
Crime prevention is a shared responsibility and one that relies on deep community commitment. It’s all about eliminating criminal havens and making our neighborhoods less attractive to thieves and bad actors. With fewer officers available to respond to the ever-increasing number of calls, our community must rise to meet this challenge together.
That’s why in 2024 we made a commitment to SPD and the Seattle community to help the many different facets of crime prevention in Seattle, including tools, programs, strategies, and initiatives. We want to partner with SPD and the Seattle community to tackle this challenge offensively, launching coordinated efforts guided by an array of evidence-based solutions. Together, and with adequate resources, we can work proactively to illuminate the dark corners in which crime festers and make our neighborhoods safer.
We are excited to support the vital work each precinct does to prevent crime and improve quality of life for Seattle community members, business owners, and guests. Your generosity amplifies our efforts and helps make Seattle a safer community for all.
